Role of Oxacillin Susceptibility Testing Strategy in Changing Scenario of mecA Positive Staphylococcus aureus Isolates (OS-MRSA) Detection

Staphylococcus aureus strains that are mecA and PBP2a positive but phenotypically susceptible to oxacillin becoming more abundant, according research from all around the world. The susceptibility of (OS-MRSA) contributes consequent treatment-failure due misidentification by conventional tests. Therefore, objective current study was ascertain prevalence OSMRSA in a tertiary care facility located Mysore, South India. 395 MRSA isolates collected diverse clinical samples were included this lab-based prospective investigation. These tested using an 1μg disc standard diffusion test, simultaneously MIC Oxacillin determined Vitek2 systems. Additionally, specific gene detection applied these order confirm their status genotypically. PCR findings demonstrate 65% MRSA. vitek2 system detected 4.06% OS-MRSA with ≤2µg/ml. method identified total 13.75% as sensitive 10% intermediately sensitive. sensitivity shown for 1.87% mecA-positive VITEK2 techniques. This analysis found lower MICs relatively reduced incidence. Using routine laboratory might occasionally produce false negative results, which can result improper antibiotic administration treatment failure.
